Notes From David
Honest notes, not marketing fluff.
Occasional, plain-spoken thoughts from 26 years in small business, and whatever I’m learning now about AI, websites and running Bearre Designs.

The marketing task I keep telling clients not to skip
Everyone wants the website first. I understand it — a website feels real, a search-content strategy doesn’t. But the businesses that struggle later are almost always the ones who treated content and SEO as an afterthought. It doesn’t need to be complicated. It just needs to happen before you need it, not after.

Why I still remember every quiet Tuesday afternoon in the shop
Twenty-six years running Grantham Computer Centre, and it’s the quiet afternoons I remember most clearly — not the busy ones. Those quiet stretches were always a warning sign I didn’t act on quickly enough. If your bookings or footfall have gone quiet lately, that’s not nothing. That’s the moment to do something, not wait it out.

What building WOW Lincs taught me about AI
I didn’t set out to prove a point with WOW Lincs — I just wanted a genuinely useful guide to Woodhall Spa. But building it with AI showed me exactly what these tools are actually good at: doing the repetitive, technical heavy lifting fast, so I could spend my own time on the things that actually needed a person — the judgement calls, the local knowledge, the bits AI can’t fake.
